Julianne:
"Look, we want to hang on to Julianne,
but we'll have to let the boys go..."
That was more or less the message from Phonogram
HQ, when 'TBJ' failed to do whatever their
accounts department had expected it to do.

About Eve Ultraviolet - Reviewed By Q
Obviously
a far tougher cookie than her studiously soggy lyricism and chintzy
nouveau hippy persona would have us believe, Julianne Regan leads the
ever-willing Eves through a fourth public inspection after a particularly
acrimonious departure from their previous record company that would
have scuppered lesser mortals.
The best thing about them remains Ms Regan's wafting,
siren-like voice, yet there are distinct signs on Ultraviolet of a shift
away from the folksy, verdant hues of the past to invest in the textured,
narcotic allure of, say, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins or even My Bloody Valentine
on Mine, Phased and Infrared. In fact, couple these with the jangling
melodies of Things He Told Her and Some Finer Day, the raga rocking
I Don't Know and the widescreen Outshine The Sun and you've got their
most consistent, most satisfying album to date.
Quite a surprise
