Julianne:
"I feel that if I write about it now, it might give too much away
for people who have not seen the show yet. In a way, I'd much rather
wait until it was finished and then do a posthumous piece about it.
But, I hope it will suffice to say that we are having a great time so
far.
Both the Coventry and London
audiences were a dream. I think that the unplugged shows have a different
feel to them than electrics. It's a LOT more intimate. I thought I wouldn't
like that, but I do. Also, from a 'singer' point of view, it does make
a refreshing change not to be having to really pump up the old larynx
to rise above the music. That can feel great though, being in the middle
of a blistering rock-soup ! But, it's nice to be able to hear myself
and to be able to give (hopefully) a good vocal performance.
I know that Marty and Andy
are also having fun. Marty is no stranger to unplugged shows and it
was he who persuaded and cajoled me into doing this. Catalyst!
I just hope that people don't think that AAE
will never ROCK again. We will, in the future, when we can. It just
takes more cash and longer to set up. We need to show venues and agents
and promoters that we are still alive and that people want to hear us.
These shows will help to prove that. However, I can see that we will
do some more unplugged shows in future, in the interim. As finance has
conspired to make the electric shows an impossibility, these shows are
a great stop-gap and simple and cheaper to sort out. No sound man, no
light man, no roadies!"
