This
Burning Effigy
It was a good experience to be singing in
the studio again. It's a great opportunity
to sing out from the bottom of my lungs alongside
the 'ethereal' side of me....."
Jules
et Jim
I played a couple of 'Jules et Jim' demo tracks
to a friend and she said that it sounded like
a cross between Sandie Shaw and All Saints!
I can actually almost see what she means.....
Mice
The album was recorded by the then Suede engineer,
Gary Stout, who I had and have great admiration
for. Mark played all of the drums on it, Andy
guested on a couple of tracks, Marty on one.
Tim and I shared guitar parts and then Bic
stormed in and weaved his black magic through
the songs. The man is a genius.
Seeing
Stars
Classic pop & rock with a unique brand
of nervy and feeling. Sometimes a little on
the rough and hard side, some times fragile
and beautiful, like in the adorable A Drink
To Drift Away.
The
Volares
Don't let the name fool you... this new Dallas
based band sounds like they O.D.'d on Zeppelin
III while traveling through the Egyptian Desert.
The creationof James "Big Bucks"
Burnett, this LP is a labor of love that consumed
many years and many trips to the U.K. to record.
Phive
Julianne was apparently impressed by the band's
incendary live performances, and contributed
backing vocals to their epic version of the
Carpenters classic hit 'Superstar'.
Harmony
Ambulance
It was all good stuff, but, it wasn't All
About Eve and I was still wandering around
with a ghostly umbilical cord attached.
Bernard
Butler
One funny thing that he did say was that on
my telling him that I could 'have more fun
making an album with my Dad' than with him,
he replied 'Well why don't you make an album
with your dad then ?'
....which, although not intended to amuse
me, did."
Schaft
Schaft is a unit originally formed in 1991
by Maki Fujii and Hisashi Imai. Julianne contributes
lead vocals to the track Broken English on
their 1994 album called Switchblade.
Julianne
& Jah Wobble
I got a call from the studio manager there
asking me if I'd be interested in doing a
session for someone. I asked who it was and
it was Jah Wobble. I was suitably impressed
having learned to play bass by jamming along
to the Public Image album!
Fairport
Convention
"There is a version of All About Eve's
'More Than The Blues' on Fairport's 25th Anniversary
Concert CD, which I love because it's the
only time I've ever sung an AAE song with
people other than the band!
The
Mission
The Mission was fast becoming one of the biggest
rock bands in the country, and they took All
About Eve in hand, offering then countless
support slots on tours and one-off gigs.
Gene
Loves Jezebel
Despite the foreboding words, there's a glimmer
of hope in Gene Loves Jezebel's first '82
single from Situation Two called 'Shaving
My Neck.' That glimmer is the beautiful voice
singing those words as a back-up
