<claudecastelle> Marty you're too cool

<Mahky> MAHTY!
<wyyldechylde> we were afraid you were lost in traffic forever
marty
<marty> Thanks for hanging on!
<marty> I got stuck in traffic
<Revolver1> Hi Marty!!
<wyyldechylde> thanks for turning up!
<CHRISPY_HMC> Howdy Marty!
<marty> I am all yours now*
<wind74> Wassupp
<ASKMarty> derek_868 says: Marty ? How's the tour going so far
?
<claudecastelle> takkkkkkkkkk marty (c: **
<marty> WEll good so far. just one date!
<marty> Hope to see you all out there*
<ASKMarty> fadingaway says: I am captivated by the vivid imagery
evoked on "What Is Her Name"...any real-life experience driving
this song? BTW, 'Belfast Frank' says hello and I'm looking forward
to seeing you in Detroit....
<wyyldechylde> it is gonna be great marty, hectic, but great
<CHRISPY_HMC> http://home.eznet.net/~chrispy/martytour.htm
<marty> Heya Frank
<marty> What is her name is inspired by a 12 year old boy
<marty> His name is Charlie Cox. He is the younger
<marty> half brother of my ex-girlfriend
<marty> Charlie was going for a walk one day
<marty> and he asked me what I was writing on guitar
<marty> and he came up with the whole plot
<marty> There is a girl in a photograph and you wonder
<marty> what her name is....
<marty> He came up with the the whole idea and he went for a walk
<marty> and when he returned the song was finished and he was
impressed.*
<ASKMarty> Piker says: What is Adelle Yvonne about?
<fadingaway> ...and so am I
<Mahky> me three
<wyyldechylde> tis a beautiful song
<marty> Adelle is about a traiterous young French beauty.
<marty> Who is impressed by the glamour of German uniform and
vibe
<marty> as they invaded her country.
<marty> She is too young to know she is doing wrong.
<marty> Again it is about naiviety and lust.
<wyyldechylde> almost a flip on celine
<marty> Go ahead*
<ASKMarty> MWPFan says: everyone wants to know if you are
going it alone this stateside tour or if you will have support musicans?
do
tell..
<marty> I have support musicians on the gig tonight in LA
<CHRISPY_HMC> Steve Roback in San Fran, no?
<marty> Patty who played the harp on my record and Keith Joyner
<marty> who used to be in the band TheThe is playing.
<marty> But Steven Roback from the Rain Parade is playing with
me
<marty> in San Francisco.
<derek_868> what about support in london marty ?
<wyyldechylde> that sounds really exciting
<marty> So it just depends who shows up to play.
<Dart23> and chicago?
<marty> You may be surprised*
<ASKMarty> hostageofcheese says: I heard there was a tour
and TV taping last month in some southern continent. When can I see your
face on TV? This sounds good..
<marty> The Church did an ABC LIve show called something like
Studio22 or Studio21
<marty> Anyone in Australia should know.
<photoelectrik-2> supposed to be in May sometime...
<marty> They recorded about 50 minutes and will show around
<marty> 30 minutes of footage and it will be out in May on the
ABC
<marty> network in Australia. I do not know about the rest of
the world.*
<ASKMarty> parchment says: were any tracks left over from
BOB?
<marty> NO believe it or not-NO
<marty> Those are the only songs we recorded at that session.
<marty> Its all there .*
<ASKMarty> armchair says: If you could do over one of your
songs which one would it be?
<cryingwind> has a question ...may i ask what kind of music you
perform...i am not familar with it ...i saw the word church and it sparked
my interest
<marty> I would like another go at "Forever".
<marty> I think it is a bit stiff and it should be a little looser
and authentic
<marty> in a 'good' way.
<ASKMarty> photoelectrik-2 says: How is work on The Church
biography progressing?
<marty> Ahahahah
<marty> That is a vicious rumor!
<marty> I do not think there is anyone who could write that book
properly.
<wyyldechylde> i still want to see some of your songs in a
soundtrack marty
<marty> So don't believe what you read.
<PD_TR_Myuu> how do i ask ?'s
<ASKMarty> photoelectrik-2 says: Would you be able to give
as an idea of how the new Church album is sounding?
<wyyldechylde> they re incredibly filmic
<claudecastelle> type at top of chat box & press send
<photoelectrik-2> what I know you mean ;)
<claudecastelle> Wala
<marty> Its "Sprawling'
<FROM ASKMarty> thanks derek_868, your question has been received
<CHRISPY_HMC> how sprawling?
<ASKMarty> Churchy-canuck says: Is the new Church album radically
different from HOB? How's so?
<PD_TR_Myuu> marty are u a dedicated christian
<Mahky> Epics?
<marty> Yes Churchy... it won't be so dense.
<ASKMarty> derek_868 says: is hanging out in heaven where you
are musically now - or have things moved on since it was recorded ?
if so, in what direction ?
<marty> Good question
<marty> Well I think I have a vague idea as to where the new
<marty> solo record should go but I really cannot express it before
<marty> I have even one song written.
<derek_868> we can wait !
<marty> I think I am going to make a more focused record that
is in tune
<marty> with itself.
<marty> Whereas HOIH is recorded 5 years ago with several songs
added last year.
<PD_TR_Myuu> ,|,, o(<o>¿<o>)o ,,|,
<marty> I want to make a solo album that is more focused and
created over a set
<marty> amount of time and more organized.
<marty> I do have some songs stored up but I want to create a
more individualized
<marty> and creative effort from scratch.*
<ASKMarty> ChaosismyfaveChurchsong says: What is the last
song you wrote or is that written?
<marty> The last song... Chromium Plating.. it is on the next
Church album.*
<ASKMarty> derek_868 says: are you planning any more shows
in the uk apart from london on may 8 - or will all about eve commitments
prevent more solo shows ?
<marty> WEll AAE is all committed at this point.
<marty> Someone wants me to play in Germany.
<marty> So there is a chance I may play there.
<Waterloo_lily> Yes,please do that !!
<marty> I am playing with doing a Tuesday night gig for a month
<marty> in London, perhaps at the 12 bar.
<marty> I would love that.*
<ASKMarty> fipster says: Will you be recording any of your
shows this time around for release, like Steve did at Bondi?
<photoelectrik-2> AND Australia :)
<derek_868> i would love that too!
<marty> Yeah sure.
<marty> Everything is getting recorded anyway.
<marty> When you sell records you ahve to give your fans
<marty> every opportunity to see and hear you.
* wyyldechylde smiles - thanks marty
<fipster> Come to Ohio! Please!
<marty> I do not know how many records I sell but say I sell
<FROM ASKMarty> thanks derek_868, your question has been received
<marty> 5000 solo records say...
<claudecastelle> ...
<marty> and if 5000 people buy my record
<marty> in the world I need to record 2 albums a year
<claudecastelle> ...yes?
<marty> Because I need to sell 10,000 records in total.
<marty> I do not mind recording more for less of an audience
<marty> that is my philosophy for making music.
<claudecastelle> You're funny Marty
<marty> I have a new live CD
<claudecastelle> Where?
<wyyldechylde> other than the one that was released with HOIH?
<marty> From the "Old" Knitting Factory from 1988
with dare.
<marty> It should be available from tomorrow night
<marty> and will be available at the shows.
<derek_868> will it be on sale in london ?
<ASKMarty> photoelectrik-2 says: How has your approach to
songwriting changed over the years?
<Revolver1> does it include see Emily Play?
